Euro-Mediterranean Youth Forum on Water and Cultures in Dialogue. Turin, Italy.

Dear Members of ALF National Network,

Imilchil lakeThe Anna Lindh Foundation, the Piedmont Regional Government and Paralleli Euro-Mediterranean Institute have the pleasure to inform you that in the framework of the International Year of Inter-Cultural Dialogue and as part of the “Water our Common Future” initiative, we are organizing a Euro-Mediterranean Youth Forum on Water and Interculturality in Turin, Italy, from the 20th to the 25th of May 2008. This project is part of the ALF “1001 Actions for Dialogue” Campaign (www.1001actions.org). 

The objectives of the Forum are:

Raising awareness among youth on the place and importance of water as cultural heritage of the Euro-Med region in order to encourage its preservation as well as new development patterns;

Encouraging exchanges, mutual understanding and knowledge between young people of the Euro-Med region;

FountainAnd creating an on-line forum and a user-friendly resource/mapping website on the place and importance of water as a common good, a limited resource and a central element of our common heritage.

The Forum aims at mobilizing young people on the issue of sustainable development with an intercultural perspective. This forum will give the opportunity to young people to meet, present their work and hold discussions with professionals of the sector. Lectures, workshops presentation and exhibitions will be organized. Young people as well as students will also be invited to attend the open sessions.

The Youth Forum will focus on the following components: Water, Heritage and Intergenerational Dialogue. Water, Spirituality and Emotions. Water, Sustainable Development and Civil Society.

Arabic waterwheelThe Forum is addressed to students, professionals as well as civil society activists. It targets young people (aged between 20 and 35) from all over the 37 Euro-Med countries; 2 young persons from different educational background will be selected in each Euro-Med country to participate in the project and attend the Youth Forum.
